1. Mastery of Scientific Spellings
The Error: Many candidates lose marks for misspelling fundamental terms like "Filtration" (written as filteration), "Photosynthesis," "Rhizobium," or "Malleability." In Science, a misspelt technical word is often marked wrong because it may change the meaning or indicate a lack of understanding.
Tip: Create a personal "Science Dictionary" of tricky words. Practice writing them until they become second nature.
2. Precise Definitions (The "2-Mark" Rule)
The Error: Candidates often provide "half-answers" that lack the essential keywords.
Tip: Most definitions carry two marks. One mark is for the general concept and the second is for the qualifying condition. Example: For "Diffusion," don't just say "movement of particles." Use: "The movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration."
3. Handling Graph Work Correctly
The Error: Examiners frequently report poor scale selection and "thick" lines. Candidates often fail to label the axes or include units.
